Back on May 20, 2014 Google updated it’s search engine ranking algorithm, dubbed ”Panda 4.0” along with Matt Cutts, head of SEO for Google confirming Panda 4.1 publicly released on September 25 of that year which was intended to decrease search results of sites containing duplicate and/or low-quality content.
Every year Google implements revisions to their Algorithms that force business owners to stay diligent in the monitoring of these changes as failing to do so can often lead to search engine results page (SERP) drops that and therefore site traffic. In fact, Google released Panda 4.2 in July of 2015 in order to prevent spammy sites utilizing link-building schemes with speculation that further changes are expected sometime in 2016.
It doesn’t really matter if you believe SEO is outdated or has been replaced by Online Audience Optimization (OAO) due to the frequency of algorithm changes. The key to surviving online remains the same; simply provide high quality content that is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices that can easily be shared across social media.
Sure, it can be frustrating when Google changes the game but staying aware of the latest industry developments and trends that influence ranks and search traffic is a must.
